Science Week
This week we have been celebrating British Science Week. The children started off the week by participating in a STEM challenge.
They were given a task to create a bird using just four sheets of paper and scissors. They were not allowed to use glue, tape, paperclips etc.
The children had some time to research different birds and their habitats for inspiration.
Then the challenge began and they had one hour to practise their techniques and create their birds.
As we are learning about Teeth and the Digestive System this term, the children also took part in a practical activity related to this: making a model stomach and intestines. The children enjoyed learning about how our bodies digest food through this activity, although they did have to get their hands dirty!
The children also made up their own songs about the digestive system to help them remember the different parts and their functions.
Lastly, the children researched and wrote all about the scientist Washington Sheffield, the inventor of modern day toothpaste.
