999 What's Your Emergency?

Inspired by the children's enquiries during exploration, we learnt about the role of the emergency services and what to do in an emergency situation. Emergency call handlers stress the importance of young children knowing what to do in an emergency, including knowing their own address, staying calm and answering questions accurately. Using the role-play dressing up for fire, police and ambulance, we practised making 999 calls for a variety of situations. We even constructed, out of cardboard boxes, our own ride-in Fire Engine which was a huge hit with the class!
