Anna Hibiscus' Song

To begin our Literacy we have been looking at the book Anna Hibiscus' Song which has helped us reflect on what makes us happy in our lives and also discover new things about different cultures.

However, Anna has allowed us to see that no matter where we live, we all have things to be happy about. Using Anna’s Grandfathers words of wisdom, we made our own 'hands of happiness' to represent what makes us happy!

Our learning extended to making cards for people who we want to thanks for making us happy! "Can I make a card for Oliver?" Nick asks "I'm going to draw water because Oliver likes using the water".

Orla chose a member of her family, using the words from Anna Hibiscus "I love you so much" she wrote in a card for Grandma.

"I'm going to put dinosaurs on one side and trains on the other" Nelson says, choosing the things he knows his friend likes!

All of this learning led us nicely into creating our own class song/poem of all of the things that make us happy.
