Bayfordbury Observatory
As part of our science topic on the Earth in Space, we had an exciting visit to Bayfordbury observatory.
We began by learning about the relative sizes of the different planets in our solar system. The smallest planet, Mercury, was compared to an onion seed, while the largest planet, Jupiter, was represented by a tennis ball.
Inside the planetarium, we travelled to each planet. We even experienced what it would be like to travel through the rings of Saturn.
Finally we went to the observatory itself and able to view real life telescopes. Unfortunately we were not able to use them as it was day time. However we were able to move them to face towards our favourite planets.
