Chinese New Year
This week, we are celebrating the upcoming festival of Chinese New Year beginning on Sunday 22nd January 2023. We are learning that it is the Year of the Rabbit in the Chinese Lunar Calendar and the festival lasts for two weeks!
During Exploration, we are working with an adult to help us make red paper lanterns and Chinese dragon puppets which are on display in our Atelier. We are also exploring Chinese writing with black paint and brushes, realising how different their alphabet is to ours! We are having fun and enjoying moving and dancing to Chinese music. We can say Happy New Year in Cantonese - "Gong hei fat choy" (恭喜发财), which means 'Wishing you happiness and prosperity.'
