In Reception, we have been celebrating the diversity within our class and learning about other traditions and cultures around the world. Children were invited to reflect on their own family’s culture and share their knowledge and experiences with their peers. We made necklaces from Africa, explored spices from India and made our own Rangoli patterns using coloured rice. We had some wonderful family visits too. We listened to the story The Gigantic Turnip in Russian, we learned colours and numbers in Spanish and enjoyed a story in French as well. We also created paper-chains and flags to decorate our learning environment. On Friday, we came to school in our special clothes to reflect our family’s culture for Carnival day!
