Digestive Endeavours
During our science lesson, we have had a great time finding out about the different stages of digestion.
We drew outlines of our class mates and tried to work out where their digestive organs would be!
Below is our digestion song which has helped us to remember the different stages.
To the tune of the wheels on the bus
The food in the mouth is
Chew, chew, chewed,
Chew, chew, chewed,
Chew, chew, chewed,
The food in the mouth is
Chew, chew, chewed,
Into little pieces.
The food then passes down the
Oesophagus
Oesophagus
Oesophagus
The food then passes down the
Oesophagus
Until it reaches the stomach.
Inside the stomach it is
mixed with enzymes
mixed with enzymes
mixed with enzymes
Inside the stomach it is
mixed with enzymes
To break it down even further
Next it’s into the
Small intestine
Small intestine
Small intestine
Next its into the
Small intestine
To break it down even further
Before it leaves the
Small intestine
Small intestine
Small intestine
Before it leaves
Small intestine
The food is absorbed into the blood.
Finally it goes into the
Large intestine
Large intestine
Large intestine
Finally it goes into the
Large intestine
Then down the toilet.
