Family Learning Week
It was wonderful to have so many parents attend our STEM based family learning week where the children were able to share so much of their learning. Year 2 embraced the activities and used their problem solving skills to think about solutions to our various activities.
We had a wonderful time exploring structures and thinking about the strongest way to build a structure. A lot of trial and error went into this and in the end they created some amazing structures that withstood their test of strength.
Year 2 also had the opportunity to use Stop Motion on the iPads to create animations. After initially developing their skills they began to explore how they could create interesting animations.
The final session of the week involved using our senses. We had begun by looking at nocturnal animals and how they locate food during the night. The children were then able to explore various smells, textures and sounds to think about what might be in each box. This allowed them to think about what it would be like if they were working in the dark like the nocturnal creatures we had learnt about.
