Growing our own beanstalks!

Following learning about traditional tales, we have decided to explore another avenue of learning - science! In reception this comes under the umbrella of 'understanding the world'. We are exploring and experimenting through planting our own beanstalks! Keeping a diary to ensure progress is being made!

We began by explaining our knowledge of plants and growing - which we are all very knowledgeable on! Looking at a plant to discover the names of the certain parts and labelling them. Then came the fun bit! We have planted our beans in clear cups to allow us to see the growth of the roots - we have thought about all the things our plant will need and have recorded this in the diary. The children seem to think I am silly because I think my bean plant will grow in my cupboard?! We will see.
