Hare Soup!

During Year One's visit to the Hertford archives at the start of the term,  we were taken on a journey of exploration into the social and culinary history of the Radcliffes of Hitchin!  The children had the opportunity to explore a variety of paper documents from the archive relating to food including seed bills, estate maps and a reciept spike. 

One  of the more intriguing artefacts was a recipe from the 1700s for 'Hare Soup', containing some interesting spelling mistakes which the children quickly spotted!  So we decided to make our own Hare soup using Rabbit and we sampled it in class after writing our own 'vintage' recipes...
