Is the moon made of cheese?

When looking at the moon, we noticed that it is covered in darker patches. We learnt these are actually craters (and not holes in cheese!)We wondered how these were formed so we carried out a vey messy, but fun,  investigation using cornflour and baby oil to see how rocks and comets have formed craters on the moon's surface.
