Learning about the Coronation

Year 1 have spent time this week learning about crowns, coronations and Kings. First we learnt about what the word coronation means and what happens when a King or Queen is crowned. We learned that the king and queen will process in a golden carriage and that the orb and sceptre will be used during the ceremony.

Later in the week we learned about King Charles’ life from when he was a small baby to the man he is now. At the end of the week we were able to answer the question: ‘What kind of a person is King Charles?

We also had a go at making crowns modelled on the St Edward’s Crown that King Charles will wear as he is crowned king. Ours were slightly less glitzy, but equally beautiful in their own way!
