Learning about time in Year 1

Year 1 have been learning about time this week, learning and singing the months of the years and the days of the week. We have moved on to understanding the relationships between seconds, minutes and hours.

Today we spent time in the playground estimating how long it would take to do certain activities eg walking around the netball pitch. We also estimated and then measured how long we could do something eg standing on one foot. Finally we played a game where you needed to estimate how far you can travel in one minute. Several Year 6 children came to work  with us, showing the children how to use the stop watches and taking part in the games.
