Learning in Year 2!

Last week in Year 2, we settled back into our school routine and spent the week getting to know each other. There was lots of exciting learning that took place and the children enjoyed being introduced to our new story, called 'Zeraffa Giraffa'. In Literacy, we spent time exploring expanded noun phrases and contractions and brushed up on our multiplication skills in Maths! In Science, we were identifying all of the different flowers and plants in our local area and were learning about their individual properties. We loved creating our very own 'Zeraffa Giraffa' pictures using oil pastels and water colours and also spent time discussing and writing about our favourite types of transport. This will help us when documenting our own adventures in Zeraffa's travel diary, as she will be going home with a new child each week and we would love to hear about all of the fun things that she has got up to. We designed posters about the importance of showing perseverance and shared ideas about how to help and support others when things get tricky. In PE, we were improving our communication skills by taking part in team games and even had time to sit and reflect on all of the things that we are thankful for.
