Little Green Fingers!
Since returning to school on 12th April, we have been so busy and engaged with our new theme – Growing!
Children began by sharing the story Jasper’s Beanstalk by Nick Butterworth and Mick Inkpen - finding it amusing at how impatient Jasper became whilst waiting for his beanstalk to grow! This inspired us to have a go at growing our own bean plants. Children engaged positively and enthusiastically to explore the soil, investigate the beans and share their own knowledge about growing and changes over time. Now, just like Jasper, we are waiting and waiting and waiting….! Hopefully, each child will have a lovely bean plant to take home at half-term – watch this space for further updates.

Our interest in growing didn’t stop there – children participated in gardening outside with Mrs Simmonds too. Children helped to plant sweet peas and phlox in our garden area. This is encouraging the children to learn how to take responsibility and care for the natural environment.

Next week, we look forward to talking about how we are growing and changing too. Children will discuss their skills and abilities – giving them opportunity to celebrate their uniqueness.
