Marvellous Maths - The Number Two
To really embed the children's understanding of base ten, this week we have been exploring cardinal concepts within ten and the children chose the number two as their focus.
What makes two? What is two-ey about it? Does it matter if it is composed of lots of different things? How do I know it is still the number two?
The children worked in teams to explore their number and experiment with different methods of representation. They concluded that 'numbers are stretchy 0 they are all still two because you can count and check - they just have different names.' We will be exploring this in greater depth over the coming weeks as we consolidate our understanding of 10-20.
