National Children's Gardening Week
Dear Year 5, I hope you are all well and enjoyed the sunshine this weekend. I went on a lovely walk through a beautiful wood filled with bluebells and wild garlic! It was so fragrant!
Next week, during half-term, we will be enjoying National Children's Gardening Week and the garden centres have opened just in time! We are all becoming more confident gardeners in Year 5 now and are more green-fingered, having redesigned the pond area at school. So you could have a go at planting something at home, helping with the gardening or look at the links below to get some ideas.
Have a look at the link below to get some ideas for how you could celebrate: https://www.childrensgardeningweek.co.uk/fun-things-to-do/
You could even decorate your doorstep or a balcony with a painted rock bug if you don't have a garden.
Here are some other activity ideas to help you celebrate National Children's Gardening Week from the Royal Horticultural Society:

I especially like the idea of pressing flowers to make some art. I remember doing this when I was a child (but remember to ask your families first before you pick any flowers from your garden!).
Happy gardening! Miss Cookson
