No Outsiders
This week as part of Anti-Bullying week, 6 have read the book 'Leaf' by Sandra Dieckmann. The story helped the children to overcome fears about difference. The polar bear in the story, who was a little bit different to all other animals, was not welcomed by the animals in the forest. However, very soon, the animals learnt that they all are different in some ways and so we should not show prejudice against others despite our differences. We looked at the Equality Act 2010 and discussed what 'protected characteristics' means.
'From the story 'Leaf', I learnt that you should never judge a book by its cover. Even though people are different, everyone deserves to be treated equally and being different makes you who you are.' (by Scarlett)
