Our Trip to St Albans Cathedral

On Monday 9th December, we went on our first school trip to St Albans Cathedral. Our trip to the Cathedral was to learn more about the Christian beliefs of the birth of Jesus. We were given a tour of the Cathedral by Steve and Thomas and heard another school practicing their for their Christmas Carol concert, which sounded beautiful! We were able to learn about the Nativity story through a trail, listening to the Christian story of the Nativity, which we acted out with finger puppets. We then had our lunch – which all the children were incredibly excited about!

After lunch, Thomas got us to think of ways we could represent our knowledge of the Christian Christmas story on a clay tile and then we set to work! Rolling out balls of clay to create a square tile, which we decorated with moulded pieces of clay placed on top and/or markings in the clay.

Such a lovely day was had by all and the children learnt all about Christians ideas of the Nativity story.
