Our trip back to 1666

On Monday, Year 2 travelled back to  1666 to experience daily life. We tried out lots of different professions: doctors, leather workers, bakers, seamstresses,  candle makers, scribblers and even rat catchers! We made our own ink and wrote with a quill and also stamped some wonderful leather bookmarks! We then followed the story of the fire and created a bucket chain to try and put it out. By the afternoon, the fire had ravaged a lot of London so we had to dig for artefacts left over from houses which were burnt or pulled down. To end the day, we looked at a map of London and found out how far the fire really spread.

A huge thank you to our parent helpers who made the day possible and a thank you to all of the grown-ups involved in creating such wonderful costumes to help the children feel part of the day.
