Rocks and Soils at Amersham FSC

Year 3 were very lucky to spend a day at Amersham Field Studies Centre recently. We spent time outside finding and examining different soil types and then went inside to analyse what the different soils contained. We learnt that some soil had a lot of clay in (we could squish the soil into a shape) while others were more sandy (and couldn't be easily squashed into a shape). We were lucky enough to eat our lunch outside in the sunshine. After lunch we went on a fossil walk where we found out that that part of England was underwater millions of years ago and the water was warm! It was a very interesting day.
