Shuttleworth Visit
Year 2 had a wonderful trip to Shuttleworth today. We were treated to watching a Spitfire doing some aerobatics over head.
We learnt about an amazing woman called Amy Johnson who flew all the way to Australia after waking up one day and deciding to do this, so learnt to fly and how to fix her plane before setting off on her journey.
We also found out about a local man called Dan Albone who invented the penny farthing, the first lady's bike, the tractor and much more.
However the highlight for all the children was climbing aboard one of the first commercial aeroplanes and taking an imaginary to France (6 people at a time!)
Thank you as ever to our volunteers who made the trip possible.
