Skeleton Explorations and Classifying in Science

Today our Year One Scientists welcomed Dr Lincoln into the classroom to talk to us about her role as a Paediatric doctor.  We learnt about key organs in the body and how the main function of our skeletons is to protect our soft tissues and vital organs such as the heart, kidneys, liver and intestines. We were fascinated by the difference between the veins and arteries and the way our blood changes colour according to its oxygen content.  Dr Lincoln also shared some scientific artefacts such as Sidney the skeleton and some X-rays which we are looking forward to exploring over the coming week. Many thanks to Dr Lincoln for sharing her expertise and her time and for inspiring us with an abundance of enquiry questions to kick start our Science topic!
