Stepping Back in Time
We started our visit to Osbourne House by discovering what life was like for the servants in the 1870s. The children learnt to set tables, polish the silver, make the beds, prepare the fire lighters and lay the tea trays in preparation for the arrival of Queen Victoria. After that we toured the house and explored the garden, finishing up at the private beach where we had our picnic lunch and treated ourselves to ice creams. Then, it was on to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway where, once again, we were transported back in time with the sights and smells of a bygone era. The children enjoyed a scenic ride through some of the island’s stunning countryside. This evening, Year 6 impressed us with their imagination and creative skills in our annual sandcastle competition.
