Story Stones -the Monkey and Papa God

Today we explored one of the Haitian folk tales in our new CLPE text - The Monkey and Papa God.

The story tells of a lonely old woman and a curious monkey, and reminds us of the need to be careful of what we wish for!   The children orally recalled the story, responded to illustration with role play and freeze frame, and retold the story in their own words following the story map format.  Finally, the story stones were created as an extension to the recall and to add and refine detail to their story maps.
