Super hero writers in Year One

As part of a sequence of exploratory writing in Year One, the children have been exploring Marianne Dubuc's famous visual text 'Here comes Mr Postmouse' - a delightful tale of an enterprising young postie (who also happens to be a mouse) who makes some surprising and fascinating deliveries to his varied clients....

Today, after many lessons of preparation, the children were writing some letters to the creatures of the Ant House, asking them about their exciting mail and about the many features to be seen in the rich illustration of the house. Four children read their work and the rest of the class flexed their 'editing muscles' identifying 2 super aspects of the children's letters.  Questioning skills were also rehearsed and the children each asked the ants a special question about their house to be explored further next week. Well done all Year One writers on some imaginative and creative letter-writing!
