The Solar System

Year 5 used lots of different skills in Science this week. We used different foods to represent the planets of the solar system. We had to interpret data to find out the size of the planets and which food would best represent them. Then, using the data, we had to order the planets correctly and show how far they are away from the sun. We used toilet paper to make sure our solar systems representations were to scale; each group set the scale (the distance represented by one piece) and then counted the distance between the planets. The groups displayed wonderful koinonia, working collaboratively to complete the tasks.
