Thermal insulation and dissolving

To complete our materials topic, we carried out investigations around thermal insulation and solubility. 

To begin with, we developed our own testable questions around insulation. Some groups changed the number of layers, others the colour of the fabric and some the type of fabric. So that we had a clearer picture of which cups lost their heat the quickest, we plotted our results on a line graph. 

Later in the week, we developed our understanding of solubility and carried out an investigation to see if sugar dissolved more quickly in warm or cold water. We then used our understanding of how materials dissolve to explain our results.
