WEEK 4 in YeAr 4
This week in Year 4, we have enjoyed analysing speeches by Greta Thunberg and Malala Yousafzai. We explored how differently each speaker addressed their audience and identified a range of persuasive techniques that we can now use in our own persuasive letter writing. The children were particularly thoughtful when discussing tone, powerful language and the impact of rhetorical questions.
In Maths, we assessed our understanding of decimals and approached our assessments with fantastic positivity and determination. We have now moved on to our new Money unit, where we are developing our skills in recognising amounts, calculating totals and giving change.
In Geography, we explored our school’s water supply system and became “mini architects” for the afternoon! We investigated where the water sources are located around school and identified where drains and water systems connect. The children loved thinking about how buildings are designed and supplied with water.
In Computing, we worked very hard to plan our own podcasts. The children showed great creativity and confidence as they developed their ideas — we may have a few future Steven Bartletts in the making!
In Art, we explored mud painting, learning about its origins, meaning and cultural significance.
Well done, Year 4, for another brilliant week of learning!
