We are scientists!

During science week we learnt all about worms. We then made our own wormery by layering gravel, sand, soil, dead leaves and, of course, worms from our outside area. We covered it in black paper to keep it dark and put it in a cool place.

We were so excited to look inside it today! We used magnifying glasses to look closely:

"There are plants growing! There must have been seeds in here."

"Some of the dead leaves have gone- the worms must have eaten them."

"The worms have made little tunnels going down."

"The soil and sand have started to mix together."

"I can see some roots!"

We then returned the worms to our outside area where we know they will do a great job helping our new plants to grow.
