Who goes there...?
This week, children decided the role play needed to be changed. We conducted a class vote, resulting in over half the class requesting a Castle. Mrs Kerr used her creative know-how to construct the shell of the castle whilst we were at our PE lesson. Imagine the excitement when we returned!
Later that afternoon, we talked about what we would need inside the castle – how would be play in there? What characters live in a castle? Do we need anything else? We created a mind-map of our ideas and suggestions. This resulted in motivating the children to work collaboratively to design and make crowns, shields, a canon and a drawbridge. Phew!
The next day, children were still inspired and continued their interest and participation by spending the afternoon making costumes including princess dresses and soldier’s helmets. We look forward to enjoying playing in the castle, using our own self-made resources and learning about castle life.
