Why did Britain want to build the British Empire?

Year 6 are learning about the Rise and Fall of the British Empire. To introduce this topic, we focused on why Britain wanted to build their empire. The students were given headings such as trade, power and ambition matched them to historical events. They are very excited to learn about the British Empire!
