Why does the sun rise in the east and set in the west?
As we come into autumn and our days begin to get shorter, year 5 have been thinking about why we get day and night.
We learnt that the Earth rotates on its own axis in an anticlockwise direction, once every 24 hours. Following on from this, we thought about how this fact effects where we first see the sun in the morning and where we last see the sun at night. We monitored the suns position in our sky using compass skills and our sundials
