Working a long side scientists
Patsy Sherman was a scientist who was famous for developing the Stain Repellent - Scotchgard.
As part our work on materials, we have been thinking about the types of investigations that Patsy would have had to carry out. Her investigations might have been around the type of stains it would have repelled. Would it be effective on all materials?
We developed our own fair tests and discovered that Scotchgard was much more effective on man made fabrics than natural ones. Some results suggested that it was more effective against stains such as coffee than tomato based stains.
Based on our results, we thought about the next questions she may have asked herself. - How could we make it effective against stains on natural fibres for example.
