Writing our own book!

In maths we have been exploring shapes. We began our learning looking at a series of stories by Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen, appropriately named by their shape name - circle, triangle and square. Through these stories we have been able to think about the different properties shapes have and we are now digging deeper into other properties of shape including those 3D shapes have.

These books also led to learning in our literacy. We thought about how the shapes felt in the books and what the shapes might want to say or do. From this we had a go at writing a sentence using our phonics to write what the shapes might want to say or do.

This had then led us to think about what book could come next in the story! As a class we decided the next book would be called Rectangle. The children worked together to decide what would happen to the shapes in the new book and throughout the week we have been writing it! Please come and visit Reception to have a read!
