Year 3 visit to the Priory

As part of our local history project on the Radcliffe family, Year 3 went to visit the Priory in Hitchin. We had spent some time investigating the arrival of the Carmelites in Hitchin in the 13th Century before we visited the Priory; under the expert tutelage of a local historian, we were able to identify the parts of the  building which date back to its very beginning and suggest reasons as to how they were used. Many Year 3s thought the most exciting part was the cellar, which was where several monks were buried several hundred years ago.
